This is a question we are being asked a lot recently.....
Are Silicone Wristbands Environmentally Friendly and are Silicone Wristbands recyclable? The answer, in short is yes. Out of all the wristbands available for events, festivals and fundraising the Silicone Wristband is one that's top of the list for being environmentally friendly and we will tell you how.
Most wristbands, such as Tyvek Wristbands, Fabric Wristbands & Vinyl Wristbands are generally used for single day events or festivals. They are applied upon entry to the event, worn for the duration by the individual and discarded at the end of the event. Although some of these wristbands are now ethically and environmentally produced they still have a very short life span.
The good thing about Silicone Wristbands is not only can silicone be recycled but Silicone Wristbands are generally worn for weeks, if not months and sometimes years by the individual who supports the campaign that the Wristband represents. This gives the wristband a significant life span and they can be greatly justified for the cause that they represent.
So the first thing to do is to contact your local authority and enquire if they recycle silicone. They can advise and inform you of the appropriate direction to recycle your wristband. Alternatively you can carry out a Google search and locate a commercial operator who recycles silicone. Or if you wanted to be creative you can utilise your wristband for some arts and crafts. We have some interesting videos coming up to demonstrate some cheap, initiative and create ways to help recycle your Silicone Wristbands.
